Error: Contour operation cannot be milled.

I have here a part where the 2D contour doesn't work.

If you look at the toolpath everything looks good.
But in the simulation you can see that the tool destroys the part completely.crash.png
It looks like the system can't handle the geometry.
If I do the same operation as a 3D strategy there are no Problems.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Hi @milan_vasic,

I tested your file and in my simulation it works all fine.

Have you updated yet to the newest version?

Edit: When I use compensation in control it works also.

That's weird.
I tested it extra on 2 PCs. Yesterday I loaded the newest version 2019.2.1 and tested it again before I wrote here. I had the same result every time.

Do you have those red lines downstairs, too?

I tried it again. You have to activate "Stop on collision".
Then you will surely see it too.

I did a quick check on my computer and in simulation it looks fine. I changed the flute length on the cutter to 20mm and the "shaft collides with stock" warning went away.

@rs249

Will you get the same picture as me if you don't change anything in the program and activate the collision display in the simulation?

But it's really like you said. If I extend the tool a bit, the simulation is right again.

This error only occurs with the 2D contour.
With all other operations it always looks normal with the same short tool and the same depth setting.

This is what it looks like straight from the file you posted with no changes. I using the latest HSM buildsample.jpg

@rs249

Thanks for your help.

For me it also looks normal in the simulation, like for you, if I don't activate the option.
As soon as I activate the option "Stop at collision" and let the simulation run from the beginning it looks like on the picture.

I find it strange that I have the problem on two different computers.
As it looks you don't have the problem.

@milan_vasic,

try to export to STEP/SAT or an other file and import it new and try it again.

Reinstall is an option ... don't know how to help you now 😞

Hi @milan_vasic,

This looks a like a graphics issue.

Have you checked the video card driver?
