3+2 table rotary axis offset

HI,

 

Scenario :

 

1) New to Inventor HSM,

 

2) 3 axis mill with a 2 axis turnnion, so the machine is 3+2,

 

Problem:

As you may see in the table elevation, I want to 0 level my Z axis (tool) on top of the Sphere (Steel ball almost 3" Dia).

 

Secondly the Rotary axis along the Y axis in not in line with the center of job, how do i define this offset in HSM.

To put is simple: you don't. If your machine supports tilted workplane, that the one that offsets the value. If your machine does not support that, you have to program from the point where C and B cross. Thats your zero. 

 

If you want the offset in the post, you have to calculate every coordinate in the post.

 

Most 5 axis machines support tilted workplane
