Fusion 360 Post Processor to a ZUND cutting/routing table.

Fusion 360 Post Processor to a ZUND cutting/routing table.

Howdy,

I'd like the ability to export toolpaths to my Zund cutting table, to drive the router for doing contoured 3D milling, as well as using the oscillating knives and drag knives.

I've corresponded with Zund and they have provided a manual for the HP-GL code that runs the machine...

Is this an easy request?

Thanks,

Tory

Thanks

Hi Tory,

i have been working on a postprocessor for our cutting tables, and have got i to work 95% ( still need feedback, toolchange etc. )  🙂

Which router module are you using ? 3.5kW ? do you have ARC installed ?

BTW 3D ARC is not suported by zund at the moment, so you would hav to interpolate on z movement.

i would love to collaborate on this project.

Hi snF5VND,

Thats great news!

I'm using a G3 M-1600 with the ARC installed. We are routing with the RM-A 1kw QC router.

Yes, I know the Zund software doesn't support the any Z movements, so it's really a 'set a depth and route' system. But the machine mechanism can support it 🙂 I'm currently using EnRoute software to create a mill path from an STL, as recommended by Zund. Apparently EnRoute is the only software that can export a tool path with full 3D contoured paths to the Zund. I'd love to bypass the EnRoute software and drive the Zund directly through Fusion 360. I'd love to be able to drive the other tools as well, like a POT knife or a drag knife, etc....

How can I help you complete the post-processor?

Cheers,

Tory

Hey,

I'm also looking at a post-processor for Zund G3, would love to help where I can. Or is there anyone out there who has finished the post processor and want to share the success? 🙂

Hi @snF5VND, i was wondering if you made any progress? And if you wanted to share your findings?

Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
Nope, no progress. No one from Autodesk has gotten back to me.

I think that there is no hope.

My current workflow is to export flat shapes as dxf and bring them in to
the illustrator for nesting and to assign specific tasks.

For anything that needs 2.5D routing I limit my models to what tools are
available for zund (e.g 90deg chamfer or 6mm ball nose router) and set all
the route lines manually in illustrator while reading the data from Fusion
360.

I hope that helps.
