Adding a function in Autodesk post processor class without using TCP

Adding a function in Autodesk post processor class without using TCP

A 5 axis simultaneous tool path made on Fusion 360, post processed without TCP mode, is resulting in a jerky motion of the machine. But at the same time, with TCP mode ON, the tool path is smooth but the controller requires an in-built TCP mode to perform smoothly. And a lot of economic controllers in the market does not have this feature.

I would like to request for the addition of a function to Autodesk Post Processor Class, so that any controller which does not have a TCP mode can be used to run 5-axis simultaneous G-code.

A similar function, as below, could be added or the same can be updated to include an option for using controllers without TCP mode, so that the tool-path will not be jerky.

optimizeMachineAnglesByMachine ( MachineConfiguration machine, Integer tcp )

0: Maintain tool tip position (TCPM).  In this function we have only 3 options

  1. 1: Map tool tip position.
  2. 2: Map tool tip position for machine axes in table only.

Kindly look into this issue.

Hoping to hear a positive response from your end.

Amit Kumar.

It takes iso file as input and converts according to smoothened toolpath

Yes,

But what does it do to smooth the points?

Does it changes the angles or move points around?

Or do you only add extra points?

@Laurens-3DTechDraw it changes the angles calculated by formula and it recalculates it and optimizes according to geometry. so we get smoother toolpath in non tcp controls.

@Anonymous

That means the code will be different from what your programmed in CAM. And I don't think the developers want to incorporate that into the post.

I really think you are better of making the path in CAM better. Because that will make the quality of the part better, not just the speed of the movements.

But creating that program as an add-in for the software if a great idea of course.

@Laurens-3DTechDraw yes i also want support for creating that program as an add-in for the software if a great idea of course. can you help me in that ?

Regrettably I do not have the skills or knowledge to assist. My plan is to
look for an alternative controller to Mach that supports TCP; but please
keep me posted (excuse the pun!)

@richpicture Ok sure why not i will let you know.

I have one suggestion for you

http://dynomotion.com/KFLOP.html

Check this website they have one controller with tcp only. and it is available in usa, I have used it too its also supports everything 5 axis.

Moving to "under review" in advance of separating out the post ideas from the general software requests. This was a batch process. So, this particular idea may still be archived.

This postprocessor works with the Philips 432 good in fusion 360 , is it possible for someone to modify this code for Art cam software to extend the .con ??
