Post Processors for ABB Robots

Hi,

I am evaluation weather or not to purchase fusion 360. I would like to know if there are post processors available for an ABB6400R robotic arm to do machining. Is there a continuous 5 axis machining option?

Thanks,

Joseph

I had the same question. From my limited knowledge of ABB robot programming, I think that it's probably much more complex than typical CAM but I'm hoping that a post processor has been created.

I haven't seen a post for ABB, though there is one for KUKA KRL, and we've also used a custom post in concert with Grasshopper & KUKA|prc to program incremental sheet forming for our KR60 & KR150 using Fusion toolpaths.

It wouldn't be too hard to create a post that describes the tool planes for milling, but the broader issue is that Fusion has no features that let you simulate or control the pose. I suggest checking out Powermill Robot, it's pretty robust and I found the 2018 interface way nicer than previous versions too.

Update!  We now have a post-processor to drive ABB Robots from Fusion 360.  Find it here:  https://cam.autodesk.com/hsmposts?p=abb&_ga=2.20262328.124841764.1593537081-1682455771.1592242493

This does support 5-axis milling applications.
