Post Processing Understanding

Hi Guys,

Like many people, on these forums, I have had issues with post processors. Whether it be editing, errors, small problems etc. The help I have gained from the forums has be fantastic.

I find myself asking for help on post processors more than any other process within Fusion 360.

I am an applications engineer and use fusion 360 on a daily basis.

I would like to know more about understanding the post processors and how they work, so that I can solve the issues myself, leaving the hive knowledge on here to help with more detailed and complex issues.

Does anyone have any links, documents etc that they could share with me to enable me to learn more about the internal texts/commands/ writing of posts within Fusion 360's post processors or even an online course to allow me to understand them better.

The best way to learn about post processors is to take a look at the Post Processor User Guide and debug the post. You should have a basic knowledge of JavaScript. By going through the user guide, you will find information on what a post processor is, creating/modifying a post processor, functions, and more.

For debugging the post, the Autodesk Fusion 360 Post Processor Utility extension allows you to run the post processor you are editing directly from the editor and to debug the post by matching the output lines in the NC file with the code line that generated the output.
