Bob Schultz

Hi Guys,

Does anybody know if Bob Schultz is around?

He modified a post for me some time ago  and I sent him a query about it  last week.

Just checking if I should send it to someone else?

Thanks

Tony

What is the issue with the post processor? Perhaps you could upload it here, along with a bit of information on what is wrong, I then may be able to offer some help & guidance.

You may also contact your local HSM dealer to discuss the modifications, they should be able to help.

Hi George,

I am running a simple scallop with a  3d parallel toolpath.

The feedrate is separated into 4 segments along each path.

So it slows and speeds up in feedrate at each of the 3 Z heights

Is it a fusion setting or post?

Using RS274

Thanks

Tony

I'm a bit unsure of what you mean here. In the files you sent I can only see one feedrate. Do you mean the machine is running slow when changing direction? It could be because of the strict change in direction. You might consider changing the transition type from 'Straight line' to 'Smooth':

Hi George,

Yes there is only one feed rate.

When running the file on the machine the machine slows 3 times along each pass.

It is as though that when it approaches the z coordinate in slows down and speeds up.

So the feed rate is not constant.

Tried the smooth, but was the same.

Regards,

Tony

I'm pretty sure this is a controller issue.

It sort of stops at each point. Does the controller have a look ahead or smoothing option?

Hello Tony,

I am still here, just in and out of the office the past couple of weeks.  As far as your problem goes it does seem to be as Laurens says in that it is probably in the control.   In your output you will notice that the Z-axis changes direction on some of the moves, which can cause the machine to slow down to keep the tool in tolerance.  I have looked at the G-code list you sent me originally and I do not see a setting for smoothing or a tolerance for when the tool changes direction, so there is nothing that can be done in the post.
