Is Solidworks required to use HSM in Inventor?

Hello,

I am IT support guy with no experience of HSM but have been asked to install it. The person I am helping has Inventor 2017 Pro, but no Solidworks.  

I thought that HSM was meant to work with Solidworks and Inventor? Am I right in thinking that HSM requires Solidworks even if you only want to use it in Inventor? Because at the moment if I run HSM all I get are errors that it cant find Solidworks and cant see anything in Inventor to suggest that HSM is there as an add-in. I am confused!

Hi @sopeautocad,

Solidworks is not required to use HSM in Inventor. It seems that you have installed HSMWorks which requires SolidWorks.

For Inventor, you need Inventor HSM that can be downloaded from here: https://www.autodesk.com/campaigns/hsm-trial-inventor 

If you purchased the product you should have access to it in your account portal: manage.autodesk.com
