Chip Thinning - Face

First things first.. This looks like an absolutely excellent feature.

Second, it appears to currently (I realize its new..) always output at a minimum two step over passes, regardless of the cutters ability to fully cover a piece of material..

In the attached image, a 3" face mill is set to face a 1" wide block. The first pass is perfect,  with the thin edge barely beyond the chip exit. The face mill covers the part and removes all material in the first pass. The second pass does absolutely nothing and should be trimmed.

Yes, if the stepover is small we should trim the entry cut. I'll talk with the developer about this.

PS. Please send a feedback for your example so we can look at it.

René,

I had reported this already, if you didn't remember it's ticket #6924.

PS. Is it really busy? Cause some of the latest feedbacks has not been reacted on(if busy, it's not a problem just checking if it's that or something went wrong.)

No need to resend - we have what we need.

It actually seems like the passes don't start from the proper place; The center line of my face mill on the final pass is basically where the trailing edge should be. All successive passes should offset by the stepover from there.

Right now you have the roll-in down, and that looks great. Getting that last pass, which in most cases is the only pass, offset so the chip is thinned at the exit is pretty important.

Works great indeed just makes to many passes, in my opnion on both sides, first and last pass, as far as I have seen.
