I have a Fusion educational account.

If I have uploaded and opened in Fusion 360 an .ipt file from Inventor, then how can I export or save it in a PC folder in Fusion format .fed ?

Hi @30487884,

Your question is not fully clear to me.

But you upload/open an Inventor .ipt file and you insert that into a Fusion Design.

Finally you like to export the whole Fusion Design local.

That is by clicking export and make it an .F3Z file.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

No, it is still not clear.

The question is this:

I am in inventor and I want to use my model in Fusion 360.

I try to export it, but Inventor only allows .stp or .ipt formats. I do not want to use .stp because the components will lose the joints between each other. So I use .ipt. There is no way to use any other export extension.

I am now in Fusion 360. I upload the .ipt. But not I can not even open the .ipt. When I try to do it, the software goes to the website account.

I am now trying something different: I have an account that works both in Inventor and Fusion 360 and that allows to open inventor files in Fusion 360. When I do so, it is impossible to save the file in fusion format. It remains in .ipt. It seems that the option to 'leave' inventor has been disabled on purpose. The result is that I can not leave the .ipt format and use a more friendly one like fusion.

It is impossible to Export .ipt files to .f3z. The option is not present in my fusion accounts; either of them, either the stand alone fusion account I have or the one that is linked both to inventor and fusion and allows sharing models.

Hi @30487884c,

please upload the steps you are doing incl screenshots. Because you want to upload .ipt and not Step. But at the end you like a Fusion file?

witch way you choose to work all way leads into a stupid model. (No history of how the model is created and/or been joined).
so if it is a assembly, you have to create your joints again within Fusion. It only brings in the parts in the correct position without relation.

looking into how the model is created is also not visible. You only receive the solid(s) without timeline.

I see. That replies the question then.

I do know that the it is not possible to export the timeline, because the Timeline simply does not exist in Inventor.

The export of files from Inventor in .stp, that is the conversion of .ipt to .stp within Inventor,  did certainly work for me and I will use that option from now on when I want to import models into fusion.

Thank you
