Delete a Milestone

Hi All,

I just accidentally added a milestone to the wrong component, is there a way I can delete this milestone?

I searched but just came up with F360 Lifecycle answers, which I don't have.

No, you cannot delete a Milestone as it is a version and you cannot delete versions.  You have two choices.  One is to ignore the milestone and continue saving which will create the next version, go back and edit the milestone's name to something like "Ignore".  Two, use Save As and save the model as a brand new file which will start the version cycle over again.  Using this method you lose all of your version history which is not real desirable.

@jhackney1972 thanks for your detailed explanation. Very appreciated.

Someone in my Team accidently set a few components to a NEW MILESTONE.

Now I get a lot of error messages/ warnings.

was considering the save as new option but that will have too many down stream issues.

Will have to live with it I guess....though I think there should be an option to remove a milestone or restrict the project  admin only to set milestones.

Maybe my phasing was misleading. I don't really care about deleting the version, but it would be a good feature to be able to remove a milestone marker from a version. Possibly only for users with higher admin rights.

so still no way to delete or remove a milestone? so in case of someone does an accidental click there it can't be undone?

kinda sucks TBH

Yeah at least the ability to say something is no-longer a milestone or wasn't supposed to be would be super good.

In reality, IMO, A milestone should just be a checkbox on a file. This version is a big one. Maybe in retrospect, no, it wasn't. Check or uncheck as desired.

What's really frustrating is when I want to drag something in and someone else had saved a milestone and now I get that version  all the time as the default instead of just whatever the latest and greatest is. And the only alternative is now every time I save I gotta make a new milestone, which makes milestones tedious and exactly equal to meaningless
