Wouldn't it be nice to have CAM operations remember that they have a "derived from" relationship...

Wouldn't it be nice to have CAM operations remember that they have a "derived from" relationship with other operations?

This way in a template with two/three different applications we could make some selections only once and they would propagate to the derived operation as well.

Select contour once, in the roughing operation and the finishing one comes right after it on the same contour without any other selection (uness one sees a need to tweak something).

I think what you are referring to is the "Duplicate" function.  This will take a previous machining step, contour and all, and duplicate it.  All you have to do is make any adjustments between the roughing pass and the finishing pass.  Take a look at the Screencast.
