Work flow of joinery items in a room with wall panelling.

I have been using fusion for some time now and I cant find the right work flow when I have wall panelling and joinery items in the same room. My biggest problem is I work of a scale plan drawing then I get site dimensions and then lets throw in a design detail change to the panelling at different stages of the project. Does anyone work with theses types of projects some advice would be great.

Hi,

Please give some more information e.g pictures.

Please share a sample file.

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post.

Ill try and find a good example, I just need to be careful I don't have any client information or branding in it.

It maybe better to break the question down:

I receive 2d drawings of floor planes and elevations of a combination of wall panelling, loose furniture and fitted furniture, should I draw all in the one drawing and make each item a component?.

What is it you want out of Fusion, when done?

Your answers might narrow down the topic for us.

I was going to refer you to a sticky post, about Rule no. 1, but it’s gone,

search for Rule 1, the original document by @TrippyLighting maybe he knows how to find it now.

Having read that, including the exceptions, you may be able to describe your query in terms that contributors can assist.

Thank you all for your responses,

In the end I want an approval from client of a 2D drawing, generate a cutting list for beam saw using map boards, nest any shaped repeat work cnc on fusion.

My jobs can be full ground floor of a building with different types of wall finishes and again loose and fitted joinery.

Before I was drawing everything separate and then then dropping them into a extruded floor plan and add my wall panelling to this. but I find the sketch for wall panelling can get over constraint.

any help would be mush appreciated.

No the file is returning an error, happens when I am out of step with updates, circulated by continents at times, will try later.

Sounds like sub assembly will be the way forward, Will rely on others to address 2d drawing or BOM.

Might help.....

Basically have a file per client then in that file have a file for each design this puts it part by part, so in those files, you can just change and save the model or save as and do the change but make sure you rename the first model so you know not to touch it again unless it is needed you can also sub another file in the file again if you want.

So if bob wants X model made again you go to his file the parts file then there it is do what's needed done.

Also if the model is needed by someone else but left the same you go to it do what is needed to be done or copy past it into a new file under that client then it is the same and you can change it in places or edit the original model.

One of the files in the model you attached is broken This is the second time I have seen this.

Definitely look up rule one it will help you a lot.

No the file export version is as it was saved. (Recommended)

Live - current version is shared with Share Public Link.

As far as your question, I would research Derive, you can have a library of panels, Derive one of them into the current, it can be changed / updated in the current file - that does not flow backwards to the library.  But if the original needs updating all files that use it, update.

(Pattern that one in the file)

Dan got further than I did with that attached file, here it won’t convert.

Might help....

You can change an f3z file to a .zip and extract it, it is just a fusions version of a zip file.

Yep.

F3d is standalone.  F3z is one that contains linked files.

Talking about other ways to share a file, brings in the Share public link.

Project invites, etc.

Then there are Personal Licence restrictions as overrides, to complicate it.

Guenther, have you noticed that the Attachments section, of a Forum post, is all of a sudden missing?  Do a reply to this post, do you see it?

Yes, but the quick-reply option does not allow which post you are replying to.

Looks like the intern who is working on the forum software is back from summer break 😉

Thanks for the tip.

I just noticed this problem today and posted it to the support forum like some others.
However, none of the suggested workarounds work for me.
