Windows: Fusion keeps sending itself to the background

Fusion 360 2.0.17954 x86_64
Active Plan: Subscription
Windows 10 Home 22H2 (19045.3693)

Anyone else noticing that, after completion, operations that take a beat to finish send Fusion to the background? I'm working with a largish mesh and it's happening with some regularity.

E: My video appears to be of potato quality, but hopefully you get the point.

I used to see this just with certain add-ons, like some of the gear generators. Recently though, its happening a LOT. Like you say, on any operations that take 10 seconds or so, when they complete the Fusion window puts itself back one level so another application is now on top. I run with Fusion as a window, not full screen, if that matters. While the operation is going on, I am not changing to other windows or even moving the mouse out of the window. It just changes the z order on the window so the next window down pops up to the top. Been seeing this a lot in the last couple weeks. I am on Windows 10, latest version, latest drivers, everything is up to date.

Yeah, it seems to have come on suddenly for me. This last release perhaps. I'm not running any add-ins (other than the ones that come by default).

Been happening here for 3 months, during heavy duty calculations.

Might help...

Ah. Good to know. Could very well be that it only feels recent to me as I've only recently been dealing with largish meshes that seem to take awhile.

Me to! I never know why or how Fusion 360 takes command of the OS or why it defers to say Chrome just after it finishes some grunt work...my first thought is a crash but no...Fusion 360 simply decides that it should lower its eyes and shuffle to back as if embarrassed....I know of no other program that does this

Hi,

I have been observing this for 2-3 months.
First I noticed it when calculating larger patterns, then, as mentioned, with all actions with "increased" calculation effort.

@RajkumarIlanchelian      Are there any findings?

Will connect with our engineering team on this and se what could be happening.

It's doing it on extrudes with curves. I've got 35 layers to extrude and I have to alt-tab back into Fusion after each one. I also see it happening with the upload panel.

This is ridiculous.

Happening a fair amount for me as well.

I have also recently started getting endless waiting spinner.

The app is perfectly functional, just the cursor is the wait spinner.

Anyone else getting that too?

Yes. Blue ring, but you can still click on things. Tools can even change the cursor to one with their own little badge, but then it will change back to busy when the operation is done.

Yes, loss of focus and the stupid blue ring that replaces my pointer making it hard to select things.  These quirks present F360 as half baked when I'm in a MS Team Meeting with my customer. 😞

Autodesk engineering and management has a real blind spot for stuff like this. I'm often amazed at the kinds of mathy things I see the company produce and just gobsmacked at how poorly done the nuts and bolts stuff is.

Our apologies for not connecting back here. I certainly do not have an update but will follow up internally on this one and report back.

Interesting. I've had the exact opposite issue. Fusion keeps steeling the attention from my other programs:

To people seeing this issue - are you also seeing quite a lot of crashes of Explorer.exe?

I was seeing this issue and quite a lot of Explorer crashes (While performing an operation in Fusion), and the culprit turned out to be a windows app that I was running (7+ Taskbar Tweaker).

Once I uninstalled it, it's way, way less common.
I swore blind that it must be fusion causing it, cos it was happening while I was working in Fusion, but it turns out that it wasn't

So if you are seeing it, I encourage you to check in the windows logs and see if explorer is crashing, and if so, you can maybe find out which app is crashing it. Either that, or when it happens, look in the windows logs and see if there were any errors that may yield useful info as to what is happening.

Evilc - I am not seeing any problems with any other applications, just the Fusion window taking itself back under other windows CONSTANTLY, on any step that takes a few seconds to do. Even tried closing the window it was going under, and then it would go under the next in line. It is taking itself one layer down in the stack of windows (even if there is only one other window). It does not matter if Fusion is maximized or set as a seperate window, still does it. And as someone else mentioned, once in a great while it pops itself forward when Fusion is idle and I try to bring another window forward. This didn't happen a couple releases back, this just started after a release and is REALLY REALLY annoying.

I am on Windows 10 on a desktop PC, all updates for graphics drivers and OS and fusion up to date.
