Why my business will stop using Fusion360

Maybe someone at Autodesk will read this and care. Maybe not.

My business will be moving on from Fusion. We have no choice. There are fundamental product issues that make this software unsuitable for production use.

We love the simplicity of use, and even more so the cost!

What we do NOT love is: the middle of the night updates that will cause a re-calculation of tool paths that have been working in production without error and devolve them into, in some instances machine crashes and in the best  case, just scrap.

Random direction changes on 2D contours is unacceptable. Tool path changes that leave faceting on previously beautiful surface finish is unacceptable.

until the product is able to at a minimum, alert the end user that a tool path may have changed and should be looked at, we cannot continue to use this.

Trust me, Spending enough money on a CAD/CAM solution to buy another machine didn't come easy.

I can agree with this 100%! :thumbs_up.

Besides, caching in the cloud is not exactly attractive!

This I believe is under investigation and will hopefully be adressed soon.

I am not able to comment on the "Faceting" but my testing with the 2D Contour has shown (here anyway) that if a Document is opened and re-posted then it is OK, however if I re-generate a 2D Contour what I get is that the Start point moves but it does still go in the programmed direction eg "Climb".

The only "workaround" that I have found so far is to set an "Entry Position" for the Contour and when the Document is then saved the next time I open that Document and re-generate whether I have made changes or not then there is no change to where the 2D Contour toolpath begins 🙂

All I have at this time, not the best solution for sure and should definitely not be needed but at least there is no change when re-opened and re-generated 🙂

Hi Mike,

I’m responsible for our Fusion 360 product development group, so accountability for this ultimately lies with me. I’m very sorry to hear that the problem you’ve experienced is leading you to consider moving on from Fusion. Regular updates allow us to deliver continual value throughout the year, but if we’re getting in the way of you running your business, we obviously need to improve the way we’re doing that. The team and I have been discussing mechanisms that might help, without compromising the rapid pace of enhancements. I realize that you are likely pretty frustrated at the moment but if you are open to a call, I’d love to discuss what we’re thinking, run some ideas past you, and get your feedback. As much as we love building great product, the satisfaction of our customers is what matters most to us. I’d really like the opportunity to make this right.

let me know if you’re open to a follow up, and if so, what the best way to contact you is.

Thanks,

Steve

I wanted to add to this thread an update. Autodesk/Fusion360 Did reach out to me and had a conference call around the issues I have experienced, as well as the areas the product teams are working to alleviate them.

I  am confident the changes coming to product release and quality assurance will be a very awesome and welcome change to the software.

FYI, I've marked you post as SPAM. It does not contribute to the discussion and includes a link to an unrelated web source.

With you 100%, IMHO it should really be removed by a Moderator as it is a link to selling a business (I didn`t click on the link) and he is possibly getting paid for "clicks" via that link, best all round if it is removed asap !!!!

DON`T CLICK ON THE LINK !!!!
