Why is NATIVE - BILL OF MATERIALS support Absent from F360?

Hi,

I would like to know why  there seems to be no way to manage "parts lists" of a design , that is the Bill Of Materials nativity anywhere in fusion 360?

I know there is a a parts list in DRAWINGS, but that shouldn't be the main place for that data. ( and is a pain to edit)

Would it be that hard to have a simple "SPREADSHEET" like window that pops up (in any design mode)?

To be able to see all components, including child components , linked components and PCB's and designators would be great.

To be able to assign a SYSTEM WIDE PART NUMBER for components.

When changing any part number or properties of the parts (i.e descriptions etc) then they will DRILL THROUGH all other occurrences within all projects?

To be able to have a "WHERE USED" List?

This needs to work with eagle cad libraries too. So I can assign my COMPANIES PART NUMBER's to any component.

There are at least 2 third party apps/extension that can do this ( BOMMER & OPENBOM), but it's really only a couple of lists to display ? and I believe should be built into F360. I believe that F360 does manage component "links" beg=hind the scenes but its not visible.

We could have a MASTER PARTS LIST as a document that appears in the DATA PANEL, mabe a document called BOM for every design as well ( i.e create BOM document), and links to a master list as well. just like we have drawings as documents.

Master parts lists documents and BOM lists can then be exported and even synchronised to external inventory or accounting systems if possible.

We do have a PROPERTIES WINDOW in F360 which has "Part Number, Part Name and description, but this needs to be improved.

We Should have a  "COMPONENT ID" ( A non editable number thats automatically assigned by fusion whenever a component is generated) and this number is used to link ALL OTHER COMPONENTS used elsewhere included external links and especially PCB designs.

COMPONENT ID - F360 Generated Number

PART NUMBER - This is my COmpanies Official Part number

PART NAME - Should be changed to "BROWSER NAME" basically a short description

PART DESCRIPTION  - My Own Description

would also like to be able to add custom properties (i.e UOM, costs lead times, manufacturers part number , purchased or manufactured etc)

We should be able to modify any part number, browser name, description etc in any editor and it automatically passes through to the other editors/designs

Any Thoughts on this?

I feel that I can create and design PCB'S and MODEL'S and most things in F360 with no big deal, but managing parts lists, item numbers and linking them all together is a real pain.

I would love to work with someone in the F360 team to give more insight to this issue.

I have tried to use OPENBOM but its  , Too expensive, too complicated and a very messy interface. although it does have great features.

Thanks

Dave M
