Why Does Offset Line Not Allow a named parameter to be used for length?

As above, if you try and click another dim and use as reference when setting an offset, it does not respond or if I name a parameter, the input field for the offset dimension does not respond or allow me to select a named parameter...hmm unless Im missing something but it does it in most other instances I have used

You have a named parameter.

Draw the original line.

Offset the line and type the first letter of the parameter name in the distance box, you get a list of parameter names to choose from.

Select the name you want, then press Enter.

You can dimension the length of the original line,

but you can't change the length of the offset line, or even dimension it, as that would be duplication.

Might help...

Thanks.

When I was doing that yesterday, nothing was turning up (and I like that inventor provides drop down) but it definitely wasnt working. I am in offline mode and was exporting 3df as a backup (Im just learning atm).

When I reopened the file today, the parameters work as expected 😕

Cheers

Ok here is a clear example of the issue

I have gone back into a sketch  to change dimensions to named parameters (for offset curve)

I start typing the name,

It appears in the list

I select and hit enter (as I do anywhere else)

The name remains red highlight and does not accept input

Obviously there is something missing in my understanding?

Additionally

In other sketches at times...it seems I can use the normal shortcut of adding a named parameter eg

But when I hit enter it does not always accept the name despite it being a new name etc
