Why does a simple joint only have 1 axis for rotation ? and not like if you move a component 3 axis of rotation ?

I have quite often that with assembly and joints that I need a different axis for rotation to get get the joint right. And often (for me) the wrong axis can be rotated. And quite often I have to draw a help sketch to get the joint right. Maybe I'm missing something that there are more simple solutions, but also if I try the other options (between 2 face's or intersection, I assume that this is more like the Inventor way) then I can't get it right often and have to draw a help sketch for a joint.
I put a image in this post. I want the square piece with hole's flat against the pipe. If I had more angles for rotation (a rotation seen from the top) I could get the joint directly right (with also changing some distance's):
It would be nice with simple joint if you have the same possibility's if you move a component:
Or is there a reason why it is done like this way ? Am I missing something to make joining easier ? Anyway just a (unneeded ?) frustration of a happy user...
