Why Can’t I send a 3MF file to a 3D print utility?

If I save a component or body as mesh, the dialog offers 3MF, STL (binary), and STL (ASCII).

However if I check the box “send to 3D print utility” (in my case Simplify3D) , STL (binary) is selected and cannot be changed.

This is annoying, particularly when the part is small, and Simplify3D wants to scale it in inches rather than millimeters.

Hello @RubyRedRick

Have you tried to create a setup, then select a printer.

Now you should have access to the option in the menu :

Have a pleasant day.

I don’t understand what kind of setup? Please note that I CAN send a binary STL file to Simplify3D, and I can save a 3MF file from Fusion and import it to Simplify3D.

What I can’t do is send a 3MF file directly

Hello @RubyRedRick

Sorry i no read you post carefully.

Effectively if you select any software, except Cura, the software force an STL output.

Cura may allow a 3MF output.

I will ask a question to the developers, if it's a mistake or what is limitating?

I've not noticed auto scaling in Simplify, have you tried to uncheck the Automatic scaling in Simplify?
