Why can't I edit some sketches?

I can only edit one of the three sketches in that component. Why is that? I even tried recomputing, since that seems to fix these weird issues that often come up.

Oh, I guess they were made without capturing design history.

I wish stuff like this was more obvious. For example, the "Edit Sketch" contextual menu item should still be present in the menu, just disabled, and hovering over it should give a tooltip that says "This sketch can't be edited because it was created without design history" (or something to that effect). Similarly, if I double-click on the sketch, pop up an alert with the same message.

I agree - there should be some visible difference between Direct Modeling sketches and parametric sketches in the browser.  I'll bring this up with the sketch team again this week, to see if we can't get some action on this...
