Where have the dimensions gone? And how do I make holes hollow?

In the sketch I have put dimensions of radius and the lines. but now they are gone. How can I retrieve them? (It is frustrating to do this work only to see it disappear.)

I have also sketched a rectangle. I would like to make it a hole. How can I do that? As for rectangles I have been able to enter one dimension (vertical) but the other (horizontal) I had to use the sketch dimension to enter it.

I attach the file.

Thanks.

Günther, thank you very much for the lesson. I found it useful.

I understand that one has several sketches. I reckon that for me one would be enough so that I can avoid confusion.

Attached you will find the latest file. Unfortunately I cannot move the old dimensions which I had inserted, only the new ones. What I (desperately) want is a way so that I do not lose anything which I previously sketched, a way to correct anything on the sketch if I made any errors or, more likely, need to move dimensions because I keep adding, and to find the grid lines every time I open a file. I only need to make a two dimensional sketch. Sometimes I find the grid lines, sometimes not. If possible I would like to be able to change the dimensions which I have inserted. Thank you very much.

It is probably best to keep a discussion within one thread to avoid confusion...

Actually - it would probably be best to have multiple sketches to help avoid confusion.
