view cube becomes deactivated

hello,

i have noticed that occasionally the view cube is not working correctly. the small house icon disappears and the cube becomes inactive. clicking on it does nothing. also it seems like its is a lighter shade of grey? that may be due to it not being clickable. i have not found any solutions to this issue, and i cannot determine the cause. usually it becomes usable after a while. hopefully this is just user error and someone can tell me how to fix it. its not a huge issue but it is very frustrating.

thanks

That sounds irresistable.

Cheers.

I have not used fusion for a month or so. Today I had the view cube stop working three times so far.

The only way I can get it to work again is to exit fusion and restart.

Ps, why is this topic marked answered? Exiting and restarting is not a solution.

I ran into this today. Running OSX 12.3.1. Pinching and zooming brought it back to life!, all other advice above did nothing. Definitely seems like a current bug that was never fixed.

This 8 year old bug is alive and well in AutoCAD 2023, in Sep 2022 on my Windows 11 (21H2, Build 22000.978) Microsoft SurfaceBook 2.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8650U CPU @ 1.90GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 16302MB RAM

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

DirectX Version: DirectX 12

Only hard close + open works as a fix.

Erased memory cache and it's been three days of quite intensive use without problem. Click ?>Support and Diagnostics> Clear Cache Data. Now running problem free. View cube no longer freezes. Don't know if it has or if by doing this it will any effect on other parts of the program but nothing has showed up till now. Not an expert, tried everything in the book out of desperation with this bug until stepped on this and it seems to have solved the issue so far. Hope it help

Pinching and zooming on my Mac laptop worked for me as well. This issue has bugged me ever since I started using Fusion some years ago, and I'm surprised it is still an issue after all these years. Several times I have searched the net for a solution and given up. This is the first time a suggestion has worked (ok apart from the highly impractical and essentially useless solution of quitting and restarting!)

Genius!

The "trackpad pinch solution" also worked for me on OSX. To the developers: yeah, this is a bug that I have also been experiencing.

Thanks for posting. As you can read above, the bug is with view cube itself, it can be experienced in AutoCAD, Maya, etc. (pretty much any Autodesk program with 3D, which means it will have the view cube.) It also is not mac/windows specific. It's view cube specific.

What is not known is a way to reliably repeat the behavior today. I'm happy to escalate as a high priority for fixing, any method that can reliably repeat the frozen view cube today. I suspect it is from dragging the view cube, but despite many hours of testing no method for repeating this on demand has been found.

My suspicion is based on my own experience, because I don't drag the view cube to orbit, and I don't ever see a frozen view cube. I only click on it to produce a "front" view or other view.

If this is repeatable, I have 3 mac computers to test on, please let me know what you find.

After 7 years there is no excuse for you not dedicating however many weeks of your time it takes to track this bug down.

It happens literally all the time, so if you can't reproduce it that means you haven't even tried.

The question is not why hasn't someone told you how to reproduce it.

The question is: why haven't you dedicated yourself to figuring out how to reproduce it?

This failure to fix a basic bug couldn't be more fundamental.

SEVEN YEARS IN EVERY AUTODESK PRODUCT AND YOU HAVEN'T FIXED IT.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

No excuse whatsoever. It is truly shameful.

Also, sometimes the cube gets stuck in rotation mode and won't exit even though the mouse button is not held down. Escape, etc. does not cancel it.

Seriously, has anyone bothered to debug this application? I cannot believe how sloppy it is.

It is ridiculous that this bug is still present after years. Fortunately, I finally figured out how to get unstuck quickly. Move your cursor onto the view cube. Left click and hold and drag your cursor back out of the view cube. Release the left mouse button and the view cube goes back to normal.

Autodesk and Adobe are both poster children for the need for federal law to regulate persistent bugs. Any company that lets a known bug exist more than a year should be penalized millions in taxes.

I think you might be on to something, as I do sometimes switch from trackpad to mouse, I had just never considered that to be a factor. I still haven't found a solution yet, other than (sometimes repeatedly) closing and reopening the object from the Tinkercad menu.

The only solution I can seem to find is to copy + paste all of the parts of the object into a blank new tinkercad file. Then it will work just fine, but the old file is lost, I can't navigate it at all.

Had this same issue today on Windows 10, cube becomes composed of dashed lines and stops working. Was this ever resolved?

Ok, I think we are 9 years into this and this bug is still very present, happens almost daily for me, Autodesk clearly doesn't care, they are dedicated to the money-making features of the program and can't be bothered with the countless bugs that plague this software. I found the solution: cancel your Fusion subscription and sign up for Solidworks, Onshape, or the countless other parametric alternatives to fusion. I don't understand how AD can get away with such poor customer service while charging such a premium for a program that is as bug-ridden as Fusion.

This has happened to me today, for the first time although I'm not a heavy user of Fusion 360.  Pinch zoom on the trackpad resolved the issue but it does seem that it is a persistent bug.

MacOS Sonoma with Fusion 2.0.20256 arm64 [Native] all up to date.
