All, I am trying out this forum to trouble shoot a .dwg chair model specced for a job.
I am using fusion 360 I don't have supporting software at the moment.
The model comes in a complex mesh and even when converted to brep just crashes my computer when I try to include it in my 2d drawings. Renderings work fine...

attached is the .dwg file.

Even without this I have a large table with metal bases, It is a complex model but not that complex. I have a brand new Hp Zbook but fusion insists on crashing is this something that just comes with the territory do I need a 5 to 10k machine to avoid this! I really enjoy fusion but issues like this make it so hard to use it professionally. Any advice on optimizing?

This is a VERY large DWG.  I suspect that the issues you are seeing are related to the lines shown here for the base and the arms of the chair.  If those are stored as lines in the DWG, each one of those lines will be converted into Fusion sketch lines.  This WILL take a very long time, and will result in a design that will not be usable in Fusion.  If you have access to AutoCAD, or can make requests of the provider of this model, I believe that removing that mesh-type of geometry will improve the experience a lot.

I am interested in what you hope to do with this model in Fusion.  Are you looking to model this chair in Fusion, using this as a starting point?
