Unsupported Geometry for 2d open pocket detection

Hi,

Apologies in advance, I am very new to CAM and I can normally muddle through with help from the forum/net etc. But this one is driving me mad. I've redrawn it several times, only to keep arriving at the same error.

I've attached a copy of it, in the vain hope someone can help. I'm trying to CNC the moth area to provide a simple 3d effect.

I figured 2d pocket clearing was fine, but I've also tried 3d, and both adaptive clearings.

Any help much appreciated,

G

First of all I fixed your sketch error in the Design Environment.  It is a good practice to solve all errors in your timeline before moving on.  3D Adaptive Clearing will do the trick for you except  on the "Crown" points where the tool diameter will not reach the points.  Model is attached.

Edit:  I did not add finishing toolpaths to the CAM operation.

A massive thank you John. That has had me busy for hours.

Just out of interest what was the error, and how would I have identified it. I did trawl the design for issues and thought I'd got them all.

Once again, many thanks.

I assume you are talking about the sketch error in the Design Environment.  Take a look at the Screencast.  You said you are just beginning to use Fusion 360 and it is great to develop good habits so your work will not get frustrating and you will give up.  This is the reason I mentioned it.

Thank you again John, that was above and beyond.

I hadn't realised the yellow ones signified an error. I found what looks like a decent tutorial on it so I'll watch that tonight. Fusion is a fantastic product, so its going to take a lot to deter me 🙂

many thanks,

G
