See this blue?:

That means when I start pushing down on the keys on my keyboard that field will populate with whatever keys I'm pushing my fingers down on.

And yet:

Happens all the time.........

@FrodoLoggins, thanks for the bug report. As a frequent poster here, I'm wondering if you might help me set a good example for others and please include steps to reproduce this issue. I am not immediately familiar with this command, but the context in which it was opened could be an indicator of what UI objects are stealing focus/blocking input to this field.

OP Issue:

I would have either:

- Clicked in text field off to right hand side > instead of cursor being placed next to text [as expected] the text was just all highlighted blue [this should only happen when double/triple clicking] > typing doesn't change text in text field.

Or:

- Clicked and dragged in text field to highlight text > This highlights the text blue > typing doesn't change text in text field.

Another text field bug:

In the below video you can see me do the same exact thing repeatedly [click in text fields to the right of text]. But there are two different behaviors; Sometimes a cursor gets placed. Other times the text all gets highlighted:

Other text field bugs:

Then there are issues where clicking and dragging to highlight text applies the highlighting from the opposite direction or just highlights everything instead of the highlighting following my mouse cursor:

Single clicks often act like double or triple clicks. Double clicks act like single or triple clicks, or triple clicks act like single or double clicks

This behaviour has been just as sporadic over at least 2 Macbooks. One M1, one Intel over many years. Despite every other program handling text fields perfectly fine 100% of the time.
