Unable to select multiple profiles when editing a feature - extrude/revolve etc.

Hi,

I'm editing a revolve feature. I have unselected all selected profiles and trying to add set of profiles back to the feature. This is not working as expected. Please see the screen cast (I hope it's public).

1. Select multiple profiles in a revolve.

2. Edit the feature.

3. Unselect all profiles by clicking "x"

4. Only one profile can be added back in the feature. Multiple profiles cannot be selected.

Thanks,

Sreehari.

Hey @Anonymous,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! This has already been reported to the dev team; the workaround for now is to hold down the Ctrl key (Cmd key on Macs) while selecting profiles to add back in, and that should allow you to select multiple profiles as expected.

Sorry to dig up this old thread but is was the only one I could find that describes the problem I have.

When modifying something like an chamfer I am not able to select multiple edges. As soon as the first edge is clicked it does exactly the same stupid behavior and Fusion only want to know the Value.

Ctrl (or Shift) doesn't help either, this is enormously frustrating as you are forced to delete the chamfer and do an completely new one where you can select multiple edges (as intended).

can you record a video of this?  Ctrl/Cmd should always allow input to be added to any feature.

Ok I found out how the Ctrl works now and its so far from intuitive.

The selecting Edges alone comes in 3 completely different ways of how you have to use it.

1.) When creating a new Chamfer you do not need to press Ctrl as long as you don't give it an value. If you press Ctrl it doesn't hinder anything. If you give it an value you have to press Ctrl if you want to select/deselect another (like way 2. )

2.) When edit feature you have to press Ctrl and select or deselect all Edges that you want.

3.) When deselecting all with the X, you CANNOT press Ctrl to begin with and select multiple this way. You first have to select an first edge and after that you have to press Ctrl for more edges.

If you press Ctrl for the first Edge, you have to release Ctrl and press it again in order to work. (!?)

Also generally you need to move the mouse slightly after pressing (and holding) Ctrl in order to be able to select the Edge. Even if your cursor is perfectly over the edge, you need to move it slightly so you can select it.

This is definitely not consistent and far from intuitive.

In my opinion way number 3. has to be fixed and the whole Ctrl thing should be revisited.

Also this same bug is probably in more features (like Fillet etc.)

Well after over 45 minutes of getting down to the problem and trying to describe the two main problems/bugs it as accurately as possible (English isn't my first language so ist takes a bit longer) the reply just got marked as spam.

I have reported the spam removal so hopefully an mod will bring back my reply.

I am not willingly no rewrite it again but her is the Screencast.

Screencast will be displayed here after you click Post.

hopefully your original post will be restored.  Could you try again to post the screencast?  For some reason, it did not post in your previous post...

I did get an email notification of your post.  This is the text of your post:

You have characterized the behavior correctly.  This is NOT a bug.  This is the intended behavior.  The rationale for this can be best understood if you think about Fillet.  Once fillet has a radius value, a preview is shown.  But, Fillet deletes the edges that were selection, so, you cannot de-select edges that have already been filleted, or select additional edges to be filleted.  So, when a command has a valid value (think about Fillet with a non-zero radius), you must hold down CTRL/CMD to select or de-select more edges.  Whether you need to hold down CTRL/CMD depends on whether there is a valid command preview or not.  Because Edit Feature always has a valid preview, it will always require CTRL/CMD to select more inputs

Ok but why is there the problem that you cannot press Ctrl from begin with if you deselect all and wanting to selecting multiple edges. You have to select your first edge (with or without Ctrl) then release it in case you have pressed it while selecting the first edge, then press it again to select the other edges. It behaves like it's ignoring the Ctrl if you press and hold it while selecting the first edge.

Also generally  have to move the mouse when the cursor is already perfect over the additional wanted edge and then you press Ctrl it's like it's not registering the edge before you move the mouse.
