Unable to open .dwg file

Hello,

I'm trying to import a .dwg file, and although the file seems to show up correctly in A360, it fails to open with Fusion. I'm not sure what system was used to generate the file, it could be Rhino for Mac.

At first, I tried to upload the file directly into Fusion360, but this failed : the only result was a rather unhelpful "Fusion 360 Translation Report" added to the project folder, with a simple Error red message...

Suspecting that the file might be corrupt, I tried to open it with TrueView, and it opened ok. There was only a warning about a missing NLS file.

So, I went ahead and uploaded the file into A360, through the web. It worked fine, and the file is displayed correctly. However, when I try to open the file from Fusion 360' Data Panel (right-click -> Create Fusion Design), the Job Status opens up, the Status progress bars moves up _very_ slowly and ends up with "Max attempts with no progress" error message.

Any idea what could be wrong and how I could work around this ?

Thank you for your help

What's in the file, is it 2d or 3d? If it's 2d is the info in model space, can a program like QCad open it?

This should be only 2D, as this is meant to cut panels, but I'm not sure how the designer has worked. I will try opening it with Qcad and report here.

Thank you for the pointer !

[EDIT]  The file opens up with QCad with no trouble at all. Any suggestion ? [/EDIT]

Try exporting from QCad as a DXF then use insertDXF from the insert menu. Does the file contain a lot of data, Fusion might struggle if there's more than a couple of hundred lines\curves.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion, it does work.

Still wondering what's wrong with direct import of the .dwg file but this work-around is good enough at the moment.

Thanks again for your help,

Cheers

There is NO solution here. Autodesk owns the DWG format and Fusion 360. When will this work?
