Trying to import AutoCAD data into Fusion 360 with no luck

Hello everyone

I succeeded in importing a 3D product model made in Fusion 360 into AutoCAD for Mac 2019. However, I cannot do the other way around (i.e. failing to import a 3D interior model made in AutoCAD for Mac 2019 into Fusion 360) and AutoCAD for Mac throws me the file type not supported error message.

If someone out there knows any workarounds, please share with me.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

that depends on your license. (export files)

Can you Attach the *.dwg file here for analysis?

Thank you. I read the page through the link and understood .stl is the only format that can be exported by AutoCAD and loaded into Fusion 360 for Personal Use. Something I noticed is that the model in stl format looks very different in Fusion 360 — it has all the light and material textures removed.

I guess this means the Professional License is the only way to go.

Sorry, I didn't know how to share dwg files on this forum, so I made this link to share it:

I don’t go to external links.

Simply click Reply to this thread and then drag the file into the Attach box.

Are your intended units Inches or mm?

This geometry is simple, why not create it in Fusion 360?

Yes, indeed. I will be creating the entire set in Fusion 360 from the next project.
