Trying to download trial from website results in endless linking loop

Just letting Autodesk know about a significant bug on their website that prevents new users from downloading the hobbyist/trial version of Fusion 360.

From Fusion 360 Overview:

  1. Clicking 'DOWNLOAD FREE TRIAL" takes you to the Free Trial page, where it asks you to "Select your intended use of Fusion 360."
  2. Clicking "PERSONAL USE" take you to the Fusion 360 for Personal Use page.
  3. Under "Get it now," selecting "DOWNLOAD FREE TRIAL" takes you back to the Free Trial page, where it asks you to "Select your intended use of Fusion 360."
  4. Clicking "PERSONAL USE" take you to the Fusion 360 for Personal Use page.
  5. Repeat ad infinitum. Steps 2 and 3 loop endlessly.

I was only able to download the program by using some Google-fu to find a direct download link in the forums.

Thanks again for bringing this to us. They will take a closer look at the workflow.

Just for anyone else who finds this post: at this time, the expectation is to click "sign in" in order to start the process of getting the trial download.

It sounds like you already have an account.

You should be seeing this after you sign in. Notice it says "you have a current Fusion 360 subscription". Do you have a current subscription?

Hi Im having some trouble downloading the Auto Desk Plant 3D student trial version where it keeps taking me back to the page I started at in a endless loop. It appears that all the software in this list does the same thing. Is there any way to get around this?

I start by selecting the software I need.

Then I select download free trial.

And after following the steps it diverts me back to the home page.(GO TO EDUCATION COMMUNITY)

Hi @mariusb5ZR9M-

Thanks for sharing your steps.

When you indicate that you're a student or teacher, you're being directed to the Education Community, so that you can download AutoCAD via the Get Products page.

If you haven't already done so, you'll need to create your Autodesk account and education profile. You can start that process by looking for the AutoCAD product card, which includes access to Plant 3D, and clicking "Get started" (or it will say "get product" if you're already logged in), then the blue "DOWNLOAD" button:

Hope this helps!

Hi @Anonymous-

Could you please share the link to the page where you're trying to sign in?

If I'm signed out of my Autodesk account and visit this page to access Fusion 360 for personal use, I see this "SIGN IN" button:

Are you looking for that or something else?

It appeared to have worked fine today. I have no idea what changed, because
my method didn't.

Might have been a temporary glitch on the site preventing the Sign In from
appearing, or a slight overlap where Fusion 360 just looks at the date
while the site looks at the actual minute of the one-year timer, so the
site didn't consider my initial year as being "expired"? I don't know.

Hi@gabe.anderson

Thank you for the response, I am currently using 2020 version that was available before Autodesk changed over to this new system early last year and the software for Plant 3D was a free standing software on its own.

I have installed the 2021 version that you recommended I should use and had a look under the workspace switching to see if the Plant 3D environment was there but did not find it. How would I access the Plant 3D software tool sets now that I have selected this option and installed it?

Hi @mariusb5ZR9M-

To access the Plant 3D toolset for AutoCAD 2021, you'll need to visit your Autodesk account page and look for "View all included items" under AutoCAD, which will then show you specialized toolsets, including Plant 3D:

Does that help?
