trouble uploading a step file

i have tried several times to upload a supplied .stp file, i have tried both going through the upload tab as well as the 'open' directly from computer. when i use the 'open' option, 

 

Error: Autodesk Translation Services failed to translate the step file, please make sure the step file isn't corrupt!

 

i cant seem to get it to do anything

Please attach the STEP file if you can.  I will try and open it in another application to see if it is valid.

STEP files can be attached to Forum posts.  You must do it from the Forum itself, not from an email.  I attached one to this post to prove it.

Rename it, taking out all the garbage like the parenthesis etc.  Just name it test or something like that.

If you still get that error after simplifying the name then just ZIP the file and attach the ZIP file. The fact the forum is blocking the file might point to the file being corrupt and not recognised as a valid STP file.
