Hi All,
I have come across an issue that is making Fusion 360 virtually useless for me. The toolbar that allows me to access my drive, open new designs, and access my profile is not showing up (shown in photo below). I have been experiencing this issue since the recent update.
I have already tried reinstalling the program as well as deleting the default layout view (NULastDisplayedLayout.xml) as suggested by this article:
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Fusion community!
Upon initial inspection, it looks like this may just be a graphics issue. Would you mind trying to update your graphics card drivers to see if that clears things up? When trying to update your drivers, I would do this via the manufacturer's website, rather than with the utility provided by Windows. The only reason I suggest this is because I have seen the Windows utility tell me that I had the most updated drivers, when I knew for a fact that I did not.
If that doesn't pan out, could you try closing Fusion, right-clicking the icon on the desktop and selecting Run as administrator from the drop down menu? Another thing to try would be to reset to the default layout by pressing CTRL+ALT+R.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns - I am always happy to lend a hand!
Cheers,
I have now tried all three of your suggestions as well as trying to run Fusion using integrated graphics instead of my graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 940M). Nothing has helped the situation.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Bryan
All,
I have recently tried to download Fusion 360 onto a different computer and am having the same issue. I am starting to think the issue is linked to my account, not my computer. Any suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous,
Thanks for the nudge and sorry for the delay in getting back to you!
To get that toolbar back, you are going to have to go through a manual clean uninstall as described in the article linked here. Once you finish with that, you can go ahead and reinstall Fusion from the link provided here. I know that it says that you will be downloading a trial version, but once the installation completes and you sign into your Autodesk account, you should see all of the features and functionality that you are used to seeing.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns - I am always happy to lend a hand!
Cheers,
Bad news. I followed your instructions earlier today and fusion opened properly. However, I closed the program and re-opened it up just now and its back to being messed up.
Any more ideas?
I really appreciate your help.

Hi @Anonymous,
Thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the delay in response!
We (technical support) are seeing a lot of different users experiencing this same issue - usually the manual clean uninstall/reinstall gets that tool bar back in there for good, however for some reason that seems to not be the case here.
As a team, we are trying to get together information on the systems of people experiencing this issue. I'll circle back here once I have something to share!
Cheers,
Hey I just got off of a remote desktop session with another person and I think I found a permanent fix for this issue.
Steps to resolve:
1. Open Fusion 360 and leave it open in the background
2. Open the below file with wordpad or an XML editor:
Windows:
C:/Users/***/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/Neutron Platform/Options/***/NGlobalOptions.xml
Hint: How to enable hidden files and folders on Windows
MacOS:
Macintosh HD > Users > *** > chandln > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Neutron Platform > Options > *** > NGlobalOptions.xml
Hint: How to Access Hidden User Library folder on Mac OS
3. Search for the string <WantToShowToolbar in the XML file
4. Edit the following line in the XML file in Wordpad or an XML editor:
<WantToShowToolbar ToolTip="Should the toolbar be shown" UserName="Show Toolbar" Value="0"/>
Change the value at the end from 0 to 1:
<WantToShowToolbar ToolTip="Should the toolbar be shown" UserName="Show Toolbar" Value="1"/>
4. Save the XML file and close it
5. Close Fusion 360 (This should sync the NGlobalOptions.xml to the cloud)
Upon restarting Fusion 360, the main menu should be there and it should stay there. Let me know if you find otherwise or run into any difficulties with these instructions.
I hope this helps!
I had the same problem and reinstalled several times without succes. The only thing that helped me was creating a new account; To do so go to %localappdata%\autodesk\web services and delete the file loginstate.xml then restart fusion 360 and open a new account.

Hi @Anonymous,
I just responded to your other post as well, but can you try @innovatenate suggestion above? It is a bit involved, so let us know if you need help, but this is a much better solution than creating a new account, as the new account will not have any old stored data on it.
Thanks,
The *** will be unique to your computer and Autodesk account. I've noted the *** directories this way because they are "wild cards."
For example the full path on my computer is:
C:\Users\chandln\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Neutron Platform\WFYKNG73WZSU\NGlobalOptions.xml
If you type %appdata% into an address bar in a windows explorer window (not internet explorer), then it will navigate you to C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming directory.
Note that this direct is a Hidden File and Folder by default. See the below link for more information about how to enable visibility of these directories in Windows.
I hope this helps. Let us know if you are still having trouble locating the file and/or directory.
Thank you all for the help. I opened Fusion in anticipation of doing the process proposed by @innovatenate and my account seems to be working flawlessly. I've opened and closed Fusion a few times and restarted my computer and opened it and it is working. Not sure what changed but I'll take it. Hopefully the problem doesn't return.
Thanks again,
Bryan S
