Thread through 2 separate designs

Hello,

I have been designing a box made from a bottom part and a top part that fit together.  I have made each part into a separate sheet metal design but now I have a problem creating the countersunk threaded holes through both designs.

To simplify the explanation I have made the image below that will explain the issue
The top sheet is 1.2mm and the bottom sheet is 2mm.  The screw is a countersunk M3 so the head of the M3 also comes to the bottom 2mm sheet before it starts the threads.

Because I have 2 designs (that I have tried to bring together in a third assembly design) I can't seem to be able to make the countersunk head and thread as it will give an error indicating that there is no body for the thread if I start from the top sheet.

In the image below
left: when making only thread in bottom sheet
middle: when making countersunk head in top sheet (can't use thread as it will not allow me)

right: how it should be, but I can't seem to bring both designs together.

Maybe this is something simple ... I hope ... but I can't find it.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts

In order to have two sheet metal thicknesses in the same file, you have to be using Sheet Metal Components.  If you only have Sheet Metal Bodies, they cannot have different thicknesses in the same file.  If you use Sheet Metal Components, the process you desire is not issue.  This is of course if I understand you question correctly.  Take a look a the attached model and see if it suits your conditions.  I used your dimensions.  I left on the Section Analysis but if it turned off when you open it, it is in the Browser.

Hi John,
Thank you for the suggestion.  Unfortunately sheet metal design will not allow me to create components from bodies.  The main problem I am having is not so much the different thickness of the plates but the fact that Top and Bottom designs are in two different fusion 360 drawings and when I put them together I can only edit one

Somehow I would need to learn how to bring back both designs to one editable design ... without having to redraw everything.
Any input is appreciated

First of all the statement above is not true, at least by regular means.  Take a look at this Blog article and video.  Your terminology is very confusing.  A drawing is what ...

Thank you John for the video link.  It was exactly what I needed.
Apolgies for the terminology, am learning everything by myself and I still get confused.
Nevertheless I managed to get it done with your help

Have a great day
