Thin Extrude won't work when starting "From Object"

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to cut a thin border of a banner onto a sign. I noticed the new thin extrude feature seemed to be what I was looking for but unfortunately I'm having issue getting it to work properly. I basically want to have a 1/8" groove of the shape cut into the top surface of my material. When going through the extrude dialog I set my "From Object" to be the top face of my sign, then set the appropriate distance and choose the cut operation. However, I get an error saying "The operation does not cause a meaningful shape change. Try adjusting the values or changing the input geometry." Although this does seem to cut if I start from the profile plane.

I figured a work around for now so I can test my piece by offsetting from the profile plane however this has a little more math involved and I'd prefer to just set my starting object/face and set my distance. I've attached a screenshot as well as my file for reference.

I tried this with another model and I get the same error.  @jeff_strater have you seen this error?

yep, that is a bug all right.  Seems this does not work at all.  Created FUS-82241 to track this.  Thank you for reporting it, @thespaltydog
