Why does this still happen? Every time there's an update, I hope this bug has finally been addressed, but no, not even by today's release.

We all know this one. You design something, a sketch is on the wrong plane. You "Redefine sketch plane" and... you know the rest. It flips it and moves it, it puts the part based on the sketch at some seemingly arbitrary location, you have to start again... Sort it!

Really? Recreate my "masterpiece" in 15 seconds by drawing a square, drawing another square, then using "Redefine sketch plane"! It bugs on literally any attempt.

Can't believe this is still being ignored. Just add a button to flip the axis on "Redefine sketch plane"? It's not very hard? Today's update again doesn't address the issue.

Only works well for empty sketches,

otherwise why would you use a bugged routine, that was reported years ago?

That is incorrect! It works in some cases, but not in others. That has to do with how coordinate systems work in CAD applications.

It's not a bug but a limitation. It works as intended, but lacks the functionality to redefine the orientation.

@TrippyLighting

I have been frustrated by the redefine sketch plane issue in the past as well, is your comment suggesting that it is something that should be fixed?

The alternative meaning I could glean from your comment is that when a user has an issue with redefine sketch plane it is really just a 'best practices' issue, and everything is working as intended once one learns how to do it properly..

I think it should be fixed, but I also haven't optimized my 'best practices' or workflow..

I think so too, but there is a difference in priority between feature requests (which this is) and bugs.

The prevalent answer I've received over the at least last year when I made such feature requests is that there are too many requests already and too little resources to implement them. So in essence, we'll just have to sit back and wait and they don't want to be bothered with any further requests.

That is incorrect!   Maybe.

Works for me, I empty the sketch, redefine, then start again.  Not found a problem, doing it this way.  (Usually find it was a misclick, selecting the original but wrong plane, I should use Select Other more often, and found real early in the sketch, Projected items not landing where they should have).

Stuffs up every sketch I don’t empty.
