Symbols for Hole Notes

As a teacher, on my computer, the hole notes automatically appear in the format I want for counterbore and countersink, as shown in the following picture:

aandroski_0-1614345108829.png

But on all of my student computers it is automatically displaying them like this:

I checked all of the document settings in the drawing, but they are all the same.

What do I need to do to get the student hole notes to automatically display like mine do?

It looks like your drawing template is in metric (ISO) and the students are using an imperial (ASME inch) template.

You will need to re-create the student drawings using a metric template.

It's easiest if you do this from the model.

I checked and both were created with the same settings. The original 3D
models were made with document settings in inches, and the drawings were
both created with ASME, the following settings:

Hi @aandroski

Your image did not attach for some reason.

I would suggest that your students try again, using the steps I showed above, I'm sure that this will work 🙂

I have created my drawing using ASME inches and have the same problem for hole notes of countersink and counterbore.

Hi @nancy_c_smith

Please can you share your F3D file of the model and drawing for me to have a look at?

Here are my files. The teacher file makes the correct symbols and the student file does not when creating the drawing.

You asked for f3d files of both the model and drawing, but I do not see any way to export a drawing file- also this forum limits the attachments at 3. I am attaching a pdf of the student drawing.

I downloaded the teacher file and created a drawing.  Unfortunately, the hole notation for the countersink and counterbore does not work.  I'm still getting v and w .

Hi @aandroski and @nancy_c_smith

I did some additional testing on my end. I have 2 PC's, one PC worked as expected, the other experienced the same issue as you.

The issue, is that on the PC with the problem, I did not have the AIGDT font installed. If you download and install the font from this link you will be able to see the icons in the hole notes. Simply open the zip file and double-click on the .TTF file, you should see this window, then choose "install". Note this works in a Windows environment.

To save a Fusion 360 2D drawing and model together, you go the A360 website database, you can get there from the Fusion 360 data panel, and export the 2D drawing.  This will give you a F3Z file which contains the drawing and related model.

I will take a guess as to the issue.  The AIGDT font is used to create the symbols your students are missing, check to see if they have that font loaded.

I do have the font loaded ( I can select it as a font within the drawing from the dropdown) and it is still not working.

Did you restart your computer after installing the font?

Downloaded and opened your model and drawing and I do not see any issues with the symbols in the drawing as you can see with the screen capture.  Since my system has the required fonts installed, I did not expect any problems either.

I was able to get the font to work by restarting Fusion. I did not reboot my machine, but a restart is always a good idea.

My PC FUSION 360 version does not annotate countersink and counterbore properly even though I have downloaded and installed the font. I have a student Chromebook using fusion360 online and the hole notes do not work there either.

I have restarted my computer and fusion 360.  Here's a screenshot of the font available and my fusion 360 version.
