switch between versions/options of a component?

Hi

I need to find out several options of how to arrange an array of devices in a component. I added 8 of these devices as subcomponents, and created the first option, and placed the whole thing in a big model to see how they interact. But I need to see this in like 5 different setups...it sounds like a very big redundancy to create a component and adding 8 subcomponents for each option just to compare them, hiding each of them and showing only one. Can I create versions of a component, and switch between them?  Or create several of these components and exchange them?

you can choose the version of the design you inserted, yes.  Just right click on the item in the browser and select "choose version".

That will allow you switch between version 1, 2, 3, etc of a component.  But, I suspect that this is not really what you mean.  I suspect you are really wanting to choose between variations of a component.  We call this "configurations".  Fusion does not yet support configurations, but that project is currently ongoing.  There are some tricks you can play, including versions, but most of those are pretty hard to manage and ineffective.  Until configurations is released, I think the only real practical approach is to make duplicates of the design, and change the size parameter in each duplicate.  This works, but it becomes very difficult to manage if you need to make design changes - you have to replicate the change in each copy.  For small variations, some people use Derive (create one master model, Derive it into each variation, and make changes in the Derived versions).  This also, can work, but only in limited cases, such as hole patterns ,etc.  Sorry not to have a better answer.
