Sweep? Loft? Fillet? I can't figure out what I need to do.

Sweep? Loft? Fillet? I can't figure out what I need to do.

So I'm trying to essentially "countersink" and irregularly shaped object at a slick concave angle. I've included a picture here. I can almost get it done using sweep with a path and guide rail, but it's incredibly cumbersome, and won't do the last quarter. I'm stuck. hoping someone has some guidance. The sketch object shown here is the basic profile of the contour I'd like to have the object be. obviously it needs the stretch to conform to the inside and outside shapes, as they are two different shapes, and are non-concentric. Thanks in advanced.

So many faces on the wavy external wall, - imported geometry?

Looks like you are selecting the floor edges, (2d) for a (3d) result.

Sweep should work, and I would use these highlighted edges.

Surface Sweep may be more forgiving.

Your first problem there is too many points on the fit point spline. There are many nearly tangent sections of the spline which cause problems. Make a new sketch and use a control point spline, that will give you a smooth contour. You can use a variable fillet to get close to what you have sketched, what you have will most likely fail due to self intersecting faces.

I recommend that you start over from scratch.

STEP 1. Turn on your history.

Complete what you can and then,

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

I'm unfamiliar with surface sweep, and can't find it. Where is that located?

Unfortunately I cannot redraw it. It has to fit a part that someone else modeled using a program like blender. This shape was created by flattening the original mesh model, taking an image of the hole, then producing a vector image file to be imported and extruded.

In the modelling window,

the environment  tabs, are labelled in pastel blue, Solid  Surface  Mesh  Sheetmetal are above the toolbar.  Click Surface, the icons in that tool bar are Orange.

If you have gone though that development process, how accurate is it, now?

How are you going to sort out the dish radii?  My example was a guess.

In that case - Attach your file here and I will redraw it for you and it will fit.

This is as far as I could get. It just gives up because the profiles are touching now.

Are there any unresolved issues highlighted in your Timeline?  (Hint:  The answer is yes - they are highlighted in yellow.)

Before I spend time on this, do you understand that everything in the file is poor quality and can be improved?
