Stupid beginners problem

This is a stupid beginners problem. Can't see the solution anywhere, so help would be appreciated.

Normally when I opened a new sketch (say on X-Y plane) the screen would flip flat onto that plane. It now stays at "Perspective with ortho faces"

As I'm 72 and Irish there's probably something silly I'm missing but it has me stumped.

Any ideas from you good folk please?

Hi,

maybe it´s this:

"look at" doesn´t work in 3-D-sketch-mode

3D-sketch uncheck.png   and check "look at" in your preferncesautolook.png

most likely, the "3D sketch" option is set.  This suppresses the automatic view rotation on sketch start:
