student using chromebook gets black screen after the percent count on startup

Hi Folks:

 

I have a student who was using Fusion just fine yesterday on a chromebook.  Today when he tries to open it the screen that shows the percent count comes up.  Normally the percent count takes awhile and goes up to 60ish percent before jumping to 100% and moving on to the next screen.  His only counts to about 5% and then jumps to 100% and the next screen is just black.  It doesn't move on to the next screen.

The school based IT guy got it.  clear browser history.  We also had him turn off extensions and log out and log back in.

@Michael_lafond Did the restart and browser cache help? 

Can you please provide the system specification of the machine we are seeing this?
