Hi, I'm trying to make a UAV in fusion. So far i've made a body I'm happy with but i can't manage to make it hollow... Thankful for any help I can get. I have attached the file to this post if anyone wants to take a look.

Hi gaagren,

I took a quick look, using the "thicken" tool in the Form editing environment.  You can thicken inwards (negative distance).  It creates an inner shape made by moving the form vertices inwards by that distance.

I wasn't sure what thickness you needed - I tried 1mm, 2mm.  Both worked, but needed some more work in "Edit Form" to adjust the shape at the wing tips before it would successfully Finish Form.

Good luck with the project!

Hi,

Very nice!

I have never used the tool.

Could you be so kind and show the process and its settings?

Hi Guenther,

I recorded this screencast for a 1mm thickness.
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/38fce445-f4b9-4246-8bde-49b987a6b068

I used a wireframe view so that I could see the inside shape.

A word of warning - if you thicken inwards to bigger distances, you'll need additional work before Finish Form will complete.   Where the thin part of the wing starts to get even thinner in the inside shape, the surfaces fold over and self-intersect.  Some manual work in Edit Form is needed to relax the shape, to reduce the high-curvature folds.

Hi Jean,

Thanks for the screencast with the hints.
I would not have recognized the necessity of the profile correction.
Now I am one step further.
