I have run into this strange thing recently where a loft or patch becomes gold. There seems to be nothing wrong with the model but seemingly at random a patch or loft will come out gold. I have tried just changing the appearance and it does not work to change it. Does anyone know what causes this?
surface bodies, by default, are rendered so that the "front side" is displayed in the part color, and the "back side" is rendered in this yellow/gold color. You can disable it with this preference setting:
