STL file won't stitch despite 0mm gaps

I've got a fairly detailed STL file which I want to make solid. It's a relief surface with a flat bottom. The relief surface stitches fine, but I cannot patch/stitch the rectangle on the bottom to create a solid.

I also tried using the surface to split a solid block, but that did not work either.

Any suggestions on how to make this solid?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you please attach the .STL file to the reply?

Actually I have got this to stitch now and found the 'validate' tool which tells me I have 5 intersecting or overlapping faces. So that's why it's not solid yet I think.

Is there a good way to find them?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Attached is the Solid BRep file.

I have remeshed the mesh file using mesh tool, Converted Mesh to BRep and then merged the surfaces.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. I also got it to go solid using the validte/repair tool. I will learn about mesh tool. Is there much difference between mesh tool and validate/repair?

Hi @Anonymous,

Apologies, I should have looked more closely before export.

In the attached design, It has multiple facets pointing to one point and one of the facet is close to the bottom surface. this is causing trouble to stitch the surface.

I had to extrude the surface down by 1mm and then create a patch surface.
