STL Exports w/Model oriented 'Front' as it's 'Top'

I am not sure what is happening to cause the model reorientation. It appears correctly in Fusion but when I import the STL file I exported from Fusion360 into VCarve Pro v11.5, the 'front' view is shown as the 'top' view. I had similar results before with a completely different model. I will be asking the same question from the folks at VCarve.

Thanks!

Thanks for the report. I've logged a ticket for it (FUS-155467).

There is no guarantee it will be fixed right away, but when forum reports are fixed we follow up to let you know.

@MR_WORX Can you share a Fusion design that has this problem? How are you exporting the mesh, are you using export or right clicking the component in the browser and selecting Save As Mesh? Also is this a single part design or an assembly?

Hello, I am exporting from the ‘File’ menu. This has not been a unique experience. Had some create a much more complex object (model) for me and had exactly the same experience of orientation in both CarveCo and VCarve Pro. Carveco being a spinoff of AutoDesk treating the object the same indicates (to me anyway) something internal. The procedure to re-orient is not difficult but I did think it curious.

Thanks!

Well it works fine for me. Without files to see the problem might take a long time to get it fixed. There might even be an easy fix but if you don't want to share a design good luck!

One way I can get this to happen is if the design in Fusion is using Y up then the export might seem wrong. The problem is if Fusion is Y up and the opening program is set to Z up you'll get the part rotated 90° because the programs will have Top set differently. See this a lot because a lot of Solidworks designers I have to work with use Y up so when I import their designs into the CAD programs I use set to Z up the part is rotated 90°.
