Stitching surfaces distorts the result. I guess this is a bug. This is not a rendering problem because Zebra analysis shows the distortion too. I can get around the bug by exporting and importing by STEP file before stitching.

I would have done the entire design differently right from the start.

First thing I notice is that your Sketch1 is not symmetrical...

How are symmetry and stitching surfaces related in this case? I have no idea why stitching should distort a surface.

Was your Design Intent for the geometry to be asymmetrical?

If yes, how did you arrive at the values for those spline handle weights and angles?

This could be considered a bug, but the only reason you are encountering this is because you use ineffective surfacing techniques.

Interestingly, that wrinkle goes away if you round-trip through STEP, even after the stitch

I will run this by the modeling team to see if there is anything interesting here.

@jeff_strater I've reported such behavior (STEP export/import fixing stuff) numerous times over the years.

just following up on this:  The modeling kernel team is looking into this, and has acknowledged that there is a problem here.  It will be a while before any bug fix is available, however, so I would encourage you to work around this as best you can.  Sorry not to have a better answer...

I had a completely different modeling technique in mind, but first the Sketch1 asymmetry question would have to be resolved (the very foundation of the design).
