Static Stress Simulation Multiple Studies

I am trying to run multiple static simulation on different bodies within the same file. For the first study I deleted the bodies I didn't need. Now I'm trying to setup my second study. Created a new study and the bodies are still gone. It seems the bodies are universal for all the studies. I don't see an option to restore bodies or import them again from the design space.

Some context: I am trying to setup component 3 (Joint Style 2) for a static study. During the setup for study 1 I deleted that component and component 1 (Legs) as they weren't of interest. Now setting study 2 I need component 3 back. These models are of a 2 different joint designs and a leg which I have yet to run for buckling.

Warning:  I am not a simulation expert.  This represents most of my simulation knowledge, but I do happen to have this one nugget of information.  What I think you want here is a second Simulation Model.  The UI for creating it is a bit convoluted (you have to edit the model you have, then create a new one).  See the screencast.

Be aware, though, that in a larger model, having multiple Simulation Models can get heavy.  In this design, it is not a problem, because the model is small.

Hi @jeff_strater

I had this same question and came across this post. Simple enough once you know how, but this is very non-intuitive and a UI improvement would be helpful. I would think that right clicking on "Simulation Model 1" in the browser should give me the option to "create new Simulation model" without having to go into Simplify.

On a similar vein, it's not intuitive to go into Simplify and right click on model objects to remove them from the study...that one makes sense once you know to do it, but I was looking for a button rather than right clicking in the browser (since I tried that when I wasn't in the Simplify dialog and the option wasn't there). There's enough posts asking the question if you google it that I think a UI improvement for that issue would be good too.

And while I'm on the subject, if I remove a component from a study after already setting up the study (start applying constraints and whatnot and then go back and remove the component), there's a bug where the component still shows up in "DOF View".

Hi @jlarsonLP454,

Thank you for the feedback, and notifying us of the DOF bug. I noticed it as well only this morning, and logged FUS-221565 in our internal tracking system for Development's investigation.

Please let us know if you have additional questions, comments, or suggestions.

Best regards,

Hi @jlarsonLP454, <Edit: my apologies for inadvertently tagging you by mistake @misc_engineering>

To close the loop, I've verified the DOF view issue has been resolved by Engineering Development in our latest internal build. Although we cannot promise (at this time) if or when it'll be available, we expect you'll see it in an upcoming release.

To finally answer your other comment (which I agree 100 percent an improvement may be warranted) I'll log an issue (> FUS-223334), and discuss it with our PM ASAP.

Thank you again, for your extremely valuable inputs! We are listening 🙏

ps: the other comment in furl:

@jlarsonLP454 , having the same issue here with removed components still showing in the DOF.
