Spurious error message at startup?

For the last couple weeks I've been getting a notification up in the Job Status icon when I start Fusion, saying that 'We are untangling some wires' and that response may be slow, check health status board for details. If I go to the status web page, it shows nothing but all fine for Fusion. So, why the notification? Finally realized that as soon as I do some action like saving a project that does an upload to the Fusion server, that notification goes away. Something stuck??

@crueby1 Likely something is not syncing up.

1. Go to Fusion - Help
2. Support and diagnostics
3. Fusion service utility
4. Reset Fusion
5. Close and launch Fusion again (it should ask you to login again)

Hopefully this should address this issue.

Hi,

Just tried that. It started up okay, but a minute or so later the notification appeared again. Very odd.

One other thing that I remembered, since it happened when I started up again: I got a Server Verification Warning message on startup, saying it was unable to validate a security certificate. I got this first time a few weeks ago, think it was shortly before I started having the 'intangling wires' problem. First time I had done the Trust Anyway option, after that I went and changed the setting on the Network/Server Verification page that the popup mentions.

Are these two issues related somehow?? I do not have a proxy server, never saw this message before a few weeks ago. OS is all up to date (win 10).

Thanks for your help,

Chris

@crueby1 Its certainly possible that a proxy or some firewall setting on your machine is not allowing for certain connections to happen. you mentioned you got the server warning today? If so can you go back to the service utility and run the - Gather system info. This will generate two zip files. We will need the Fusiondiagnosticslog.zip. This could have some information on what to look for and why this is happening.

Still seeing this issue every time I start up. Any luck on tracking this from the diagnostics file I posted Tuesday?

@crueby1 I don't have a solution yet but one thing to see that could revolve this issue.

(Make sure that Fusion is not running in task manager)
1. Go to the service utility
2. Run "Reset Fusion"
3. Start Fusion again - it should ask you to login again
Now this should connect you as normal. Does it?

Did just as you asked. On restart of Fusion, it first gave me the same Server Verification warning, then started up the rest of the way, and I did not have to log in again. It did forget where I was in the project tree, and all my files in 'My Recent Data' were still showing, not sure if it should have cleared that? When I shut Fusion down after the reset, I did still see the autodesk licensing services were still running. Should I kill those? This time at least I did not get the 'untangling wires' notification though. Very odd!

@crueby1 Hmmm. ok, so now if you simply close Fusion and launch again what is happening.

1. The untangling wires should not stay
2. On start up are you seeing the server verification warning?

1) I am not seeing that appear when starting up now, though I'll see if that comes back over the next day.

2) The server verification warning still comes up, unless I turn on the 'dont warn' option for that one. Dont know what intermediate server it is complaining about, I have a direct connection to the internet (via Spectrum internet, using my cable model). I looked in my antivirus/firewall logs and settings, not seeing anything there in its logs, nothing in the settings shows that it would be blocking or redirecting things. This is a fairly recent warning message, and all my networking apps/hardware have been in place for more than a year.

Anything else I should try? I will let you know tomorrow if the untangling message comes back.

@crueby1 Will wait to see if the server warning and the untangling comes back but here is one thing to do just in case. Close Fusion, restart your router and start Fusion again once you are back online. let's see if that resets any network connections. We will certainly figure this one out.

Okay, power cycled the router and started up fusion again. Still seeing the server verification warning as it starts up, no change there. Still not seeing the untangling message, will see if that comes back tomorrow and let you know. Thanks for helping diagnose this one.

@crueby1 @I will look in the logs for which service is being blocked.

Looks like the untangling wires messages were fixed by the couple of resets (for some reason it didnt the first time the other day), it has not shown up again today at all. The server verification popup is still there, though that can be hidden by the warning option in preferences if need be.

@crueby1 @Good to know that the notification error is fixed. I am still trying to get an understanding of what is causing the error warning. Will update here.

@crueby1 Ok. Looks like it is then certainly related o the certificate warning. One more help, please. Can you attach the latest Fusiondiagnosticslogs.zip please?

@crueby1 One another thing apart from the latest diagnostics logs is, please check if you have any pending Windows update. If you do can you pick up the update and then restart the machine and see if that helps? We have noticed in the past that pending windows update could cause certification validation errors.

I do not have any pending windows updates.

Attached is the latest diagnostics log file. Any other info or tests you would like me to run, just let me know.

@crueby1 Thank you for the new logs. So to confirm as of now:

1. Close Fusion
2. launch Fusion again
3. You get the server certificate warning
4. Once you make a selection in the warning you go into Fusion
5. Now you get the untangling some wires message

Right?
