Split Imported STL into multiple bodies with no intersections

I have an STL that I want to cut into 43 separate bodies and then export each of them as an STL. I imported the STL, converted it to BRep and now I am trying to figure out how to split the BRep into 43 separate bodies. The problem is the body needs to be split in the areas without intersection so I cannot use the split body tool, any suggestions?

Hi @20-Baird ,

It may be easier to do this in the Mesh workspace in Fusion. I did the following (turn on Mesh workspace in the preview section of your Preferences first).

  1. Enter the Mesh workspace
  2. Under Select, change to Window Selection
  3. Window select the body you want to be its own body
  4. Under Modify select Separate
  5. Repeat for all mesh entities
  6. Once done select all separated mesh bodies and convert to BREP

An example is attached.

I'm having this same issue, but I am unable to select the body with the window selection, or any other selections. Can someone please advise me?

I just figured it out.  You have to select the pieces before you convert it to a BREP.  It has to be a Mesh to work with it in the Mesh workspace.
