SpaceNavigator & SpaceMouse Wireless not working, new Dell XPS

Upgraded to a screaming new Dell XPS with 32GB RAM & 12 GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics, with legacy hardware connected via Type C USB hubs.

SolidWorks now does impressive real-time design rendering, and the subject-line hardware performs as expected.

With latest 3DxWare64_v10-8-2_r3385 drivers installed, the buttons work as expected, but SpaceMouse Wireless and SpaceNavigator joysticks refuse to respond in Fusion 360. Just to be clear, I have both, I'm not trying to get them to work concurrently, I simply cannot get either one of them to work.

Orbit, pan and zoom can be activated via icons with the standard mouse, but this has no effect, either direct or residual, on 3D joystick responses, in either wireless (using the 3DConnexion Universal Receiver) or direct-connected modes.

Surely I am not the first or only one to encounter this problem?

Is it something Logitech needs to solve in their next driver update?

Do other Autodesk products have this problem?  This I will soon find out and report back on, as I'm about to install Revit…

Hi,

1. for Space wireless mice from 3 D Connexxion, it is recommended not to run it through a hub.
2. there is a selection option for Space mice in the preferences under preview

Update: Subject-line hardware works perfectly as expected in Revit. After the Revit 2022 installation reboots, checked Fusion 360 again -- and it's still not working.  Sure looks like a driver issue that I'm not going to be able to solve.

1. The recommendation to not run through a hub is a nonstarter for reusing perfectly functional legacy hardware, as the XPS (along with essentially every new computer going forward) has nothing but Type C USB ports.

2. The SpaceMouse integration option under 'Preferences/Preview Features/General' was the ticket, thanks!!!

Both the hardwired SpaceNavigator and the the SpaceMouse Wireless now work flawlessly running through Type C USB hubs.

Hi,

The recommendation from 3 D Connexion is already a few years old and concerned the use of external hubs for the transmitter. Since then I have connected the transmitter to an internal USB board.
It is possible that the restriction no longer exists.

I had the same problem with my Spacemouse wireless...   I solved it by clicking the left button and selected Properties then clicked on More > and then reset all settings...  Then it worked fine immediately afterwards.  Hope this helps you.  I attribute the problem to a recent upgrade to Windows 11 and after the reset it worked fine.  Somewhere in the device driver properties I saw a log that said "Settings imported from previous OS" and that made me decide to wipe the settings.
