Solid stock - add stock

I’m machining brass casting so im setting my stock as solid and I’m having a time getting the tool to start outside of the stock without plugging into it.  Also I’ve been trying to get the spiral tool path to start far outside the stock and cut down to a 1” diameter and no matter what value I enter in the min and max settings it changes nothing. Also i have spiral with circles and it only spiral. It will not do the circles at the beginning and end of tookpath.

one more problem I’ve been having more than a handful of times is jerky toolpaths. 2d contours. I have high speed machining so it’s not that and I’ve ran a lot more complicated surfacing 3D tool paths and could feed as fast as I wanted to and never hiccup one time.

when the jerks start, on the controller screen the code freezes but continues to cut but jerks and slows down and then the feed increases. You can imagine what it’s been like on my tools.

if you have an answer please I’m all ears

Are you using an adaptive path to remove stock?

They are usually pretty intelligent about plunging outside of stock.

Can you post your file so we can look at it?

Without seeing your file, it's going to be a guessing game. Can you export and share it here?
File > Export > save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply
