Small changes to sketches or extrusions break my design

I've been a Fusion 360 user for a long time but it's my first time on the forum. I didn't see the exact same issue mentioned here and I'm getting really desperate.

I'm working on a very lengthy (many steps) design and ironically it is partly so large because I need to add steps to the end - I dare not change any of the earlier steps, no matter how benign, or the whole thing falls down.

Before we get to my issue, a new one arrived with the latest update this morning! Yesterday my design was fine but after the update I suddenly have a red and yellow timeline many pages long. It takes me hours to fix even the smallest issue because of the way Fusion does its calculations (and the time it takes doing so) so I don't have the energy to work through my timeline again and fix everything which worked yesterday. What has changed in the update??

Onto my original issue:

When changing a sketch earlier in my timeline or selecting/deselecting a face to extrude (the earlier the worse it gets) in a place that should not have any effect on future steps, it breaks my design and I sit with pages and pages of red and yellow. Some internal links or references must change - incorrectly - when making even the smallest change or addition to sketches or objects. This means I have to go back and redo all my work all the time (it takes sometimes hours to work through all my steps, selecting the same old faces, fixing the same old fillets, fixing the same old cuts and boolean operations, adding steps which somehow disappear all by themselves, etc) after I basically changed nothing of relevance. I spend probably 95% of my time going back and holding Fusion's hand from the point where it loses the plot, and 5% of my time actually designing. I can't work like this.

Attached is a Word doc with screen shots and descriptions of the steps I follow, and the outcome. Please help.

@JamieGilchrist any chance you can help out with this,

it should just work.

@martin.wiesner  That is well documented, you are likely to be contacted for a link to the file, they will keep it private if needed.  I will not see an update for a few days yet, but thanks for the heads up.

@martin.wiesner can you share the design with me?  if you can't share it in a public forum, you can private message me or send it to my Autodesk email.  jamie.gilchrist@autodesk.com
